LOADED with goodies, the first ever Ford Ranger Wildtrak X is set to be released into dealerships this month, offering a more off-road focused, highly capable, outdoors oriented model.
Combining the Ranger’s capability with the comfort, convenience and high spec of the Wildtrak, the ‘X’ factor sees a smart combination of functional features that bring not only a unique rugged appeal, but also enhance Ranger’s already strong off-road capability.
New 18-inch alloy wheels with +35 offset in tough matte black finish show the X’s intent, and match the mud ready additions to this unique Wildtrak, including black fender flares, and an exclusive black front nudge bar with LED light bar.
The X Wildtrak X also scores a snorkel to take full advantage of Ranger’s best in class 800mm water wading, and combat dusty roads, making it second only to the Ford Performance Ranger Raptor in terms of equipment levels.
While delivering a striking on-road presence, Wildtrak X’s off-road credentials are bolstered by the Ranger’s inherent capabilities, 3500kg towing capacity as well as its advanced on the fly 4×4 system.
Offered exclusively in 4×4 double cab form, the Wildtrak X features a premium interior that includes leather appointed seating with Wildtrak orange stitching detail, which is also used on the steering wheel, gear lever and handbrake boot.
SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone capability is standard, as is an 8-inch full colour screen, with reverse camera and built-in voice activated SatNav, with ‘breadcrumbs’.
The ‘breadcrumbs’ feature on the SatNav may just be one of the coolest features ever, and enables an off-road route to be plotted as it’s traversed by dropping digital ‘breadcrumbs’, enabling a return journey or future revisit. Smart!
The Wildtrak X also features key-less entry, including hands free, to allow access to the cabin when hands are full, without the need to remove the key from your pocket or baggage.
The Ford Ranger Wildtrak X will be available with the latest generation bi-turbo diesel power plant, with a 10-speed auto, or the proven 3.2-litre turbo diesel, with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The bi-turbo power train offers 157kW of power and 500Nm of torque, having debuted in the Ford Performance Ranger Raptor, and includes a lock-out feature to hold specific gears when towing. It has a 943kg payload and offers 7.4-litres/100km in fuel efficiency.
In the guise of the proven 3.2-litre, five-cylinder common rail turbo diesel, the Wildtrak X has a payload of 913kg and fuel economy is an impressive 8.9-litres/100km. The entire Ford Ranger line-up has a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
The Ford Ranger Wildtrak X is priced at $65,290 plus on-roads for the 3.2-litre 4×4 option, and $66,790 plus on-roads for the bi-turbo 4×4 variant.
