Ford Fiesta ST returns to Australia with five doors and new look

LONG rated as one of the coolest hot hatches around, the Ford Fiesta ST is back for 2020, and for the first time ever, will be offered as a five-door model, boasting 147kW of power and 290Nm of torque.

The new body style will offer increased cabin space and increased equipment levels, with Ford’s 1.5-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine under the bonnet; the first three-cylinder engine ever to power a Ford Performance model.

Further developing the driving experience, selectable drive modes feature on the Fiesta ST for the first time, enabling engine, steering and stability controls to be configured to Normal, Sport and Track settings.

At the push of a button the new Ford Fiesta ST will go from flexible everyday hatchback to track-focused sports car, with Sport mode sharpening engine mapping and throttle pedal response, as well as adjustnig EPAS settings for finer control.

In Track mode, all vehicle dynamics features are tuned for the fastest possible lap times, traction control is disabled and ESC interventions are set to wide-slip mode for hard circuit driving. The 2020 Ford Fiesta ST also features a Performance Pack.

This package includes a limited-slip differential (LSD), launch control and Ford-patented force vectoring springs for sharper turn-in, responsiveness and engagement. SYNC 3 is also standard, bringing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone compatibility.

There’s also built-in sat-nav, a B&O PLAY 10-speaker premium audio system and full-colour reversing camera, along with AEB with pedestrian detection, lane keeping aid and traffic sign recognition.

The Fiesta ST comes with a 5-year unlimited kilometre factory warranty, as well as Ford Service Benefits, which includes Service Loan Car Program, Service Price Promise and SYNC 3 sat-nav mapping updates to eligible customers at participating dealerships.

Set to arrive in Australia in the first quarter of next year, the 2020 Ford Fiesta ST will hit the market at $31,990 plus on-roads. An optional fully opening panoramic sun roof will also be available.
