Ford has announced the details and pricing for its refreshed Ford Performance line-up for 2022, including the most stylish and technically advanced ST twins (Focus and Fiesta) and the 2022 edition of the iconic Mustang sports car.
The updated Fiesta ST is due to arrive in showrooms in Q1, 2022, while Focus ST and Mustang are due to follow in Q2, 2022. The three new models have undergone significant changes, including new looks, and boosted performance.
The new Focus ST blends track-day performance with everyday driving fun, and is one of the most versatile performance cars on the market, while the Fiesta ST features a range of sports technologies that enhance power and performance, cornering and agility.
That makes it a responsive and engaging sporty hatchback. Meanwhile, the Mustang offers a unique combination of classic style and exhilarating performance, with the fresh 2022 Mustang GT California Special being added to the local range.
For the Focus ST, there’s a redesigned front-end with a new, and prominent, larger grille that now proudly houses the Ford blue oval badge. The front headlamps are now more aggressively styled than previous versions too.
Likewise, the Focus ST receives a new 10-spoke ‘torqued’ alloy wheel design, and the addition of a 13.2 in central touchscreen powered by the brand-new SYNC 4 infotainment system. Heating and ventilation functions are now controlled here too.
The new system also enables wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and there’s wireless charging too. Additional standard features include full LED headlamps featuring integrated fog lamps and cornering lights.
The more premium Focus ST X offers Dynamic Pixel LED headlamps, which are capable of adjusting and manoeuvring the light beam to suit driving conditions. Blind spot assist has also been added to the extensive suite of driver assistance technologies.
The 2022 Focus ST continues with the high performance 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine, outputting 206kW and 420Nm of torque. Innovative anti-lag technology keeps the throttle open when the driver lifts off the accelerator pedal in Sport and Track modes too.
The hot hatch also comes with an advanced electronic limited slip differential (eLSD), enhancing cornering stability and sharpening steering response to extract and plant the ST’s EcoBoost power to the tarmac.
Transmission choices will please every performance driver, with the 7-speed automatic transmission available on the ST and ST X, and the engaging 6-speed manual gearbox available on the ST model for the most discerning driving enthusiasts.
New heated Ford Performance front seats are standard and feature 14-way power adjustment including 4-way lumbar support. The 2022 Ford Focus ST, in manual or auto, is available for $47,490 plus on-roads. The Focus ST X is $51,990 plus on-roads.
For its smaller sibling, the Ford Fiesta ST, there’s a redesigned front-end featuring a more prominent, larger grille and new front splitter featuring Ford Performance branding. A more responsive powertrain now hides under the bonnet too, delivering 320Nm of torque.
Offered exclusively as a 5-door with 6-speed manual transmission, the 2022 Fiesta ST comes standard with a Performance Pack including launch control, and a new full digital instrument cluster.
The mechanical limited slip differential optimises cornering grip and the Ford-patented force vectoring springs deliver sharper turn-in, better rear-end responsiveness and a more connected feel.
New Ford Performance seats are standard for both the driver and front passenger, featuring 12-way adjustment including 4-way lumbar support. The Fiesta ST now also features advanced Matrix LED headlamps.
The 12.3-inch fully configurable 24-bit true colour digital instrument cluster allows drivers to personalise and display a wealth of information such as performance shift lights and launch control. There’s also FordPass Connect and a wireless charging pad.
It will hit the tarmac at $33,490 plus on-roads and will be available in Frozen White, Race Red, Mean Green, Magnetic Grey, Moondust Silver, Boundless Blue and Agate Black.

The 2022 Ford Mustang welcomes the addition of updated Track Apps software, including a line lock function, as well as the introduction of the California Special, a unique appearance package with special styling cues.
Based on the 2022 Mustang GT fastback and convertible models, the latest California Special appearance package pays respect to the original version’s blacked-out grille, lower bodyside accent stripe and rear fender scoop.
A California Special badge in Ebony Black and Race Red script decorates the trunk lid, while the honeycomb grille with GT/CS badge provides a unique look. A larger front splitter from the GT performance package underscores the icon’s handling prowess.
The special edition wears unique five-spoke 19-inch painted machined wheels. Interior appointments include rich black Miko suede door trim inserts and suede-trimmed seats with the embossed GT/CS logo and red contrast stitching.
The instrument panel is finished in carbon hex aluminium with a signature California Special script badge on the passenger side. The 2022 Ford Mustang will be available in a myriad of colours too, including new Mischievous Purple and Eruption Green.
Joining them will be Race Red, Oxford White, Carbonized Grey, Shadow Black, Rapid Red, Atlas Blue, Cyber Orange, Grabber Blue and Dark Matter Grey. Pricing starts at $52,590 plus on-roads for the 2.3-litre high performance Fastback with a manual transmission.
The standard 5.0-litre GT Fastback with a manual transmission is $65,290 plus on-roads. The convertible kicks off at $75,990 and is only available with an automatic. The California Special range starts at $67,290 plus on-roads, with a manual gearbox.
A whole host of add-ons are available for the Mustang range too. For further details on the 2022 Ford Fiesta ST, Focus ST range, or the ever-popular Pony, contact your local Ford dealer.
