Five Gloves have again moved the needle, with the introduction of the GT1 EVO GTX. Positioned as a three‑season option rather than a dedicated winter glove, the emphasis is on comfort and protection.
What that really means is that you’re buying a glove boasting the latest technology with a real focus on usability. Its greatest asset is its reduced thickness, allowing better throttle, brake and clutch feel.
Winter gloves are traditionally a thick and bulky affair, although there are exceptions to the rule. The downside is less feel. This is where the Five GT1 EVO GTX differs and becomes the perfect companion for the colder months.
Considerably slimmer than most of their rivals, they appear more like a mid-season glove, but still offer great warmth for chilly mornings. Built from a mix of stretch nylon, SyntechSkin and full‑grain goatskin, they aim to balance durability with feel at the controls.

A Gore‑Tex Grip membrane provides waterproofing without the slippage sometimes associated with floating liners too. Lightweight Primaloft 80g insulation has been paired with NASA-developed Aerogel across the back of the hand for thermal support.
The glove incorporates D3O, integrated with Five’s own Ergo Protech shell design. That can be found across multiple impact zones, including the palm, knuckles and forearm. The combination is a first for both the tech and the brand.
It’s also hidden under a layer of Superfabric on the hypothenar area. This adds an extra layer of abrasion protection, while visibility is boosted through reflective panels across the upper section. The glove includes practical touches such as an adjustable cuff system.
There’s also a visor‑wipe on the left index finger and touchscreen‑compatible fingertips. Five says the GT1 EVO GTX is intended to offer a broad feature set for riders who cover serious kilometres and need gear that can keep pace.

We have been lucky enough to test a range of Five winter gloves including the WFX-1 EVO WP and HG-1 EVO gloves (the latter with heating) and each time we have been impressed with the comfort, fit and quality. The GT1 EVO GTX gloves are no different.
Although not quite as warm as the HG-1 EVO heated gloves they’re pretty close. Touring and adventure riders will appreciate the greater throttle, brake and clutch feel too. Priced at $349.95, they’re available in black, and sizes from Small to 4XL.
