GERMAN car maker BMW will use today’s opening day of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este to take the covers off its brand new Concept 8 series, an enthralling design study for the up coming 8 Series coupe.
The BMW Concept 8 Series is the brand’s take on a full-blooded high-end driving machine, with the exterior built around the idea of bringing together the past and the future, with sculpted lines through the sweep from the bonnet to the roofline, to the rear of the car.
The concept vehicle features an exclusively developed exterior paint finish called Barcelona Grey Liquid and large (21-inch) light-alloy wheels. The front end gets a large kidney grille, slim twin headlights and large air intakes giving it a classic BMW style.
The large side air intakes in the front apron intensify the car’s wide, sporting stance on the road and promise a very pure dynamic experience. The carbon-fibre element between them underlines the car’s sporty, high-performance character.
Inside, BMW focuses its design on the task at hand, with the interior surfaces and lines aimed at a pure driving experience. Among the exclusive elements of the car are carbon-fibre and leather sports seats, hand polished aluminium and leather steering wheel and red-anodised shift paddles.
Dark brown and white merino leather adorn the interior, with accent surfaces in carbon fibre and hand polished aluminium. The gearshift and iDrive controller have been crafted from Swarovski crystal to provide a genuine touch of class.
The 8 Series Coupe for which this vehicle is the concept, will be released in the next 12 months.
