Citroen launches electric vehicle offensive with hybrid C5 Aircross

CITROEN has launched its electric vehicle offensive by revealing its technological flagship, the new C5 Aircross SUV hybrid, redefining the term SUV as Silent Urban Vehicle in the process.

Currently being studied for Australian introduction, the C5 Aircross hybrid leverages the standard C5 Aircross’ outstanding comfort, delivered through hydraulic cushion suspension, advanced comfort seats and comprehensive driver assistance systems.

Inspired by customers, the Aircross hybrid offers zero CO2 emissions on a daily basis in 100 per cent electric mode (50km range) and an unlimited range for long trips, thanks to its 134kW petrol engine.

The promise of a calm and peaceful journey in electric mode in this silent urban vehicle, comes thanks to a subdued atmosphere without noise, jolts or vibrations.

Performance is delivered via the PureTech power plant, and a 80kW electric motor, with the pair matched to an ë-EAT8 automatic gearbox, delivering just under 168kW of accumulated power and 320Nm of instantly available torque.

A complete ecosystem, the 2020 C5 Aircross hybrid is intuitive and user friendly, including automatic control of driving modes, easy charging and a dedicated smart services portal. Combined fuel economy is a sensational 1.7-litres/100km.

With its outstanding modularity, the new C5 Aircross SUV hybrid is the most modular in its segment, and features three individual rear seats, which can slide, tilt and fold to create best in class cargo volume.

Manufactured in France at the Rennes – La Janais plant, alongside the ICE versions of the French SUV, the 2020 C5 Aircross SUV hybrid will hit the road in France, in the first half of 2020.

The new model offers a plug-in hybrid engine combining technology and cost effective value, and is part of the first phase of Citroen’s electrified future.
