Chevrolet’s most advanced Corvette ever has arrived down under, with the all-wheel drive E-Ray landing in Australia and New Zealand. Heralding a new peak in electrified performance, it’s advanced powertrain is paired to a 6.2-litre V8.
Neither an EV or a traditional hybrid, the 3LZ Coupe uses an electric drive unit on its front axle, delivering more power, more torque, and faster acceleration. The setup takes the standard 3LT Stingray from 369kW and 637Nm to 488kW and 806Nm.
That unlocks an exhilarating sprint to 100km/h in around 2.6 seconds, thanks to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, with both automatic or driver-focused manual mode. Carbon-ceramic brakes provide the stopping power.
A ZER performance package is standard for Australia and New Zealand, adding Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, performance suspension with magnetic ride Control, and a taller spoiler wicker for track use.
“The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is possibly our most hotly anticipated model to date, and I can’t wait to see drivers across Australia and New Zealand behind the wheel of this tremendously engaging electrified Corvette,” General Motors ANZ managing director Jess Bala said.
The electric drive unit is paired to a self-charging 1.9-kWh lithium-ion battery able to rapidly replenished via regenerative energy from coasting and braking, as well as during normal driving.
Looks wise, the 2024 Corvette E-Ray builds on the refined athletic styling and performance-driven design of the Corvette family, sharing its wider exterior proportions with the Z06 and delivering a low, wide stance that demands attention.
Its standard ground effects and spoiler contribute to aerodynamics, while matching body-colour accents, exclusive E-Ray badging and unique alloys provide a look that’s both polished and potent.
Like the Stingray, the Corvette E-Ray is equipped with drive modes to suit almost any condition, with Tour, Sport, Track, Weather, MyMode and Z-Mode. These modes unlock performance and deliver cosseting comfort.
The E-Ray also sports Stealth Mode, which allows drivers to use only electric power for four to six kilometres at speeds of up to 72km/h. It means near-silent start up and take-off in suburban streets. An in-car performance app is also included.
The 2024 Corvette E-Ray is available in 14 colours, including Black, Red Mist, Carbon Flash, Amplify Orange, Hypersonic Grey, Accelerate Yellow, Seawolf Grey, Cacti Green, Silver Flare, Rapid Blue, Ceramic Matrix Grey, Riptide Blue Metallic, Torch Red and Arctic White.
Seven interior colour schemes, and two seating options, are also offered, with the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray priced at $275,000 AUD or $285,000 NZD, both plus on-roads. You can find out more from your local GMSV dealership.
