Chery to launch Omoda 5 EV in Australia

Chery has confirmed it will launch its Omoda E5 electric SUV in Australia. The stylish and sporty EV will make its debut by mid-2024 and expands the car maker’s model range. The new offering is powered by a single electric motor.

That powertrain is good for 150kW of power and 340Nm of torque, and a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.6 seconds. With an ultra-low power consumption of only 15.5kWh/100km, as well as a range of up to 430km, the E5 is set to go up against the likes of the MG ZS EV.

The Omoda E5 is equipped with a 12.3-inch curved infotainment screen, panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, and a wealth of exterior and interior colour options, providing both style and functionality.

“We are excited to launch the Omoda E5 in Australia,” Chery Australia managing director Lucas Harris said.

“With its combination of unique design, impressive range and advanced features, we are confident the Omoda E5 will be a popular choice for Australian consumers who are increasingly seeking sustainable vehicle options.”

The new E5 variant will complement Chery’s existing line-up of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, a list that incudes multiple Omoda 5 variants, the mid-sized Tiggo 7 Pro, and the seven-seat Tiggo 8 Pro Max SUV. The latter is set to launch in April.

Chery has sold more than 6000 vehicles in Australia since re-launching in 2023, and the brand roll-out continues with 60 dealers nationally including metro, provincial and rural locations.

The 2024 Chery Omoda E5 will be available in two trim levels: Standard and Premium. Further details regarding pricing and specification will be announced closer to the launch. If you’re keen on one and need finance, talk to CreditOne.
