Chery launches Super Hybrid Tiggo 7 and 8 SUVs

Chinese car maker Chery has confirmed a July launch for its new Tiggo 7 and 8 Super Hybrid models, with the former set to be priced from $39,990 drive away. The larger model will be priced from $45,990 drive away in Urban trim.

Dropping Pro from its name, the refreshed midsize SUV will go on sale in July 2025 with two generously equipped variants, which include the entry-level Urban and top-of-the-range Ultimate.

The base model features 18-inch alloys, a reversing camera, synthetic leather seats, intelligent voice command, a 6-speaker sound system, dual 12.3-inch screens for instruments and infotainment, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

An LED lighting package completes the offering. Stepping up to the Ultimate adds a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, heating and ventilated front seats, an 8-speaker Sony sound system, wireless phone charger and puddle lights.

Under the skin is a fifth-generation 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 105kW/215Nm, while the single electric motor has 150kW and 310Nm of torque. They send power to the front wheels via a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.

This stepless electric hybrid system intelligently switches between four driving modes—pure electric, series, parallel, and energy recovery. Travelling up to 93km without charging, its 18.3kWh plug-in battery can be charged to 80 per cent in 20 minutes.

The Tiggo 7 CSH features the next evolution of Chery’s diamond-style front grille that will eventually filter down to the regular petrol-powered models. A range of advanced driver assistance systems includes adaptive cruise control, AEB and lane keep assist.

Its more luxurious Tiggo 8 sibling drops the Pro Max from its name, and will replicate the Urban and Ultimate trim levels. The former, in base trim, features 19-inch alloys, a 360-around view camera, synthetic leather seats and a wireless phone charger.

You’ll also find ambient lighting, voice control, a 10-speaker sound system, 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster and 15.6-inch infotainment system, puddle lights and LED lighting. THe $49,990 drive away Ultimate adds heated and ventilated front seats.

The driver’s headrest gets speakers and there’s also a head-up display, panoramic sunroof, 6-way powered adjustment and massage for the driver, and illuminated scuff plates. Its super hybrid system makes the same power and charges at the same rate.

In hybrid mode, the two units work in unison to deliver a total driving range of 1,200km. It too features the new grille, and the same safety features. All Chery vehicles are backed by a 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty.

You also get 7-years capped price servicing and 7-years roadside assist. To find out more, contact your local dealership.
