CFMOTO’s highly anticipated 1000MT-X is due to land in Australia in late May, priced from $18,990 ride away. The new model marks a major evolution for the brand, entering the competitive big bore adventure segment with a premium, high-spec machine.
Designed for serious long-distance and off-road exploration, it’s powered by the latest 946.2cc LC8c‑based parallel twin engine, marking the first time this powerplant has been applied in an adventure motorcycle.
Producing 82kW and 105Nm, the 1000MT‑X delivers strong, flexible performance, with 90 per cent peak torque between 5,500 and 8,000rpm, ensuring effortless acceleration, loaded touring capability, and exceptional drive on steep or technical terrain.
Engine refinement and durability are elevated through the use of premium Japanese componentry, including NTN bearings and an FCC‑manufactured clutch assembly – high‑precision, long‑life components already utilised and proven across CFMOTO bikes.
Internally, the engine features ceramic‑coated cylinder bores, forged pistons, and fracture‑split connecting rods. These components reduce friction, enhance thermal stability, and provide superior strength under sustained loads.
Despite its performance, the engine remains remarkably lightweight. Weighing just 56kg, the all‑alloy case design contributes to the bike’s agile handling and balanced feel, whether navigating tight trails, long‑distance touring or riding fully loaded with luggage.
The platform has also undergone more than 100,000km of endurance testing, ensuring it withstands the extremes of Australian adventure riding, covering everything from desert heat and heavy dust to coastal humidity, corrugations and long range touring demands.
The 1000MT‑X is equipped with fully adjustable KYB suspension, offering 230mm front and 230mm rear travel (LS model: 190mm/190mm), and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear aerospace-grade wire‑spoke rims with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres.
Standard equipment includes Brembo brakes featuring dual 320mm front discs and a 260mm rear disc, Bosch 6-axis IMU enabling cornering ABS, traction control and five adjustable ride modes, for maximum control in all conditions.
With adventure touring in mind, the 1000MT‑X includes premium rider-focused comforts including a 22.5-litre fuel tank delivering 500km of range under mixed riding conditions, and an 8-inch full‑colour TFT touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity.
An advanced vehicle data interface, heated grips and a heated seat, cruise control, and an adjustable windscreen all feature. Protection comes standard with skid plate, handguards and chain guard, making it adventure ready out of the crate.
Australian riders will be able to choose from a focused, premium colour lineup with both Tactical Green and Aerolite Grey available in the standard model, while a low suspension (LS) variant will be available in the latter.
