CFMOTO have added to their 700CL-X range with the release of further specs and images for the upcoming Sport variant. Due to hit Australian dealerships in Q4 of 2021, the brand is expected to announce pricing and an exact arrival date shortly.
The 700CL-X Sport will share the same chassis and engine setup as the recently announced CL-X Classic, but scores 17-inch cast wheels, road tires, clip-ons, bar-end mirrors and Brembo brakes.
This will be the second variant launched locally in the new full-powered three model 700CL-X neo-retro range from CFMOTO. The Sport will join the Classic, which has just gone on sale in Australia for a mouth-watering $9,490 ride away.
Recently launched in China’s domestic market, the CL-X range is a watershed for CFMOTO as it breaks out of the learners-only segment for the first time.
The family is powered by a 693cc parallel-twin engine that delivers 73hp (55kW) at 8500rpm and 68Nm at an impressively low 6500rpm. That’s an increase of 18hp (13kW) and 6Nm over CFMOTO’s existing 649cc LAMS-based 650NK, 650MT and 650GT variants.
The increase in capacity for the 693cc engine over the 649cc unit has been achieved by a 3mm increase in stroke. Other technical highlights for the updated powerplant include Bosch fuel-injection, split connecting rods, and a slipper clutch.
Forged pistons for strength, and reduced weight and inertia, also feature, along with a ride-by-wire throttle, cruise control, dual-channel Continental ABS, Spanish J.Juan brakes, ‘Sport’ and ‘Economy’ riding modes, and full LED lighting.
USB charging and an adaptive headlight are standard too. Fuel capacity is 13-litres, and wet weight is a light 196kg, thanks to features such as the aluminium-alloy swingarm, and KYB suspension.
The CL-X Sport comes with a fully adjustable upside-down 41mm fork, as well as a mono-shock rear with rebound and preload adjustment. Travel front and rear is 150mm.
It comes with a standard 2-year unlimited kilometre warranty, which will be extended a further 12 months if scheduled servicing is performed through a CFMOTO dealer. More information on the new 700CL-X Sport is available from your local stockist.
