Citroën Australia reveals the latest generation C4, bringing the popular nameplate back in an impressive single specification. To be known as the C4 Shine, the newest member of the family introduces the French car maker’s latest design language.
The new C4 is a character-laden design with dynamic qualities, its raised stance reinventing the hatchback design by blending muscular Sports Utility Vehicle characteristics with hatchback versatility and stand-out coupé styling.
Creating a unique entrant in the small car segment, it has the power to match its stylish looks, too, with a lively 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine delivering 114kW of power and 240Nm of torque giving spirited performance.
Power is driven via the front wheels through Citroën’s latest eight-speed efficient automatic transmission. Highly specified and characterful, C4 Shine has all the qualities and equipment needed to shake up the small car segment.
“New C4 Shine is the perfect addition to our model line-up with its stand-out style, strong equipment list and, of course, its Citroën Advanced Comfort features broadening its appeal,” Citroën Australia general manager Kate Gillis said.

“Its design is original and stunning, and coupled with its impressive versatility and unrivalled comfort, the C4 will really appeal to the discerning Australian small car buyer.”
Set to be priced at $37,990 plus on-roads, the new model features some cool technology, including a retractable tablet holder for the front seat passenger. Its modern interior includes a high-definition digital instrument panel with 5.5-inch digital instrument cluster.
That’s complemented by a frameless, ultra-thin, borderless 10-inch touchscreen positioned at the top centre of the dashboard between the central vents (with all the usual infotainment goodness, including wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto).
The instrument panel is highlighted by soothing white mood lighting, giving it a floating effect and is complemented by a large, easy to read, colour head-up display showing essential driving information in an intuitive manner.
The steering wheel incorporates driver assist controls on the left spoke and infotainment controls on the right spoke. The physical controls for the dual-zone automatic climate control air-conditioning use a combination of chrome wheels and glossy black push buttons.

The new C4 also features a new e-Toggle shifter, an intricately patterned metal shift lever (essentially a switch, rather than an actual shifter), offering three positions (‘R’, ‘N’ and ‘D’) for easy selection of ‘Reverse’, ‘Neutral’ or ‘Drive’.
It also has two backlit push buttons: ‘P’ to activate parking mode and ‘M’ to select manual driving mode. The central console also incorporates the electric parking brake control and the driving mode selector featuring ‘Eco’, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’ settings.
The C4 sports the latest Citroën suspension package too, with progressive hydraulic cushions, said to deliver supreme comfort and a ‘magic carpet ride’ effect, underscoring its dynamism and driveability.
On the safety front, a number of driving aids combine to ensure a safe driving environment using technologies that include autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, active lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality.
Driver attention alert and a reversing camera with top-down 360-degree image are also included. The 2022 C4 Shine will feature a Hype Black interior colour scheme, comprising Black Siena leather with Zephyr Grey stitching and black leather-effect textile.

The front seats are electrically heated, and the driver’s seat features four-way electric adjustment with manual longitudinal adjustment as well as a massage function. The passengers’ seat has multi-way manual adjustment with electric lumbar adjustment.
The rear seat has a split/fold backrest and the second row features rear air cents and USB charging. Exterior styling features include body-coloured bumpers, a gloss black rear skirt, Obsidian Black power-folding mirrors and chrome window detailing.
LED headlights with automatic dusk-sensing, LED daytime running lights in ‘V’ signature and LED front fog lights with static cornering functionality, all feature. Courtesy puddle lights and rain-sensing front windscreen wipers are also included as standard.
The 2022 Citroen C4 Shine will be available in Polar White, Iceland Blue, Pulse Orange, Elixir Red, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey and Obsidian Black.
All-new Citroën C4’s come with the French car maker’s five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty, five-year roadside assistance and five-year service price promise program.
