BYD announces shock pricing for new ATTO 1 and 2

BYD Australia has today confirmed pricing for its upcoming ATTO 1 and 2 models, ahead of their official arrival in showrooms in December. The former will start from $23,990 plus on-roads, while the latter will be priced from $31,990 – again, plus on-roads.

Together, the duo not only redefine affordability for electric vehicles, but also mark one of the first times EVs have reached true price parity – and in some cases, undercut their petrol-powered competitors.

Both models feature the latest evolution of BYD’s blade battery and 8-in-1 electric powertrain, with extensive R&D testing for suspension tuning and ADAS specifically for Australian conditions.

Built on BYD’s next-generation e-Platform 3.0, the ATTO 1 is available in two variants, the Essential and the Premium, with a 30kWh and 43.2kWh battery, respectively. Considered perfect for urban settings with fast-charging capability, it’s ideal for city dwellers.

Sold as the Dolphin Mini in Latin America, the Dolphin Surf in Europe and the Seagull in China, the ATTO 1 can charge from 10-80 per cent on a DC fast charger in 30 minutes. Its larger sibling combines SUV comfort with urban practicality.

Featuring a 51.3 kWh battery across both the Dynamic and Premium variants it’s offered in, fast charging takes just 39 minutes. As highlighted in our previous story, both vehicles are feature packed and offer exceptional value for money.

“The ATTO 1 and 2 represent the next step in BYD’s vision for accessible, premium electric mobility for Australian drivers,” BYD Australia COO Stephen Collins said.

“Each model reflects our commitment to combining technology, design, and efficiency, tailored for local drivers and conditions, reflecting BYD’s commitment to making EV ownership attainable for all Australians.”

With the ATTO 1 Essential priced as above, its Premium stablemate is $27,990. The ATTO 2 Premium will be $35,990 – both plus on-roads. They join BYD’s growing lineup, sitting alongside the ATTO 3, SEAL, DOLPHIN, SHARK 6, SEALION 6 and SEALION 7.
