Harley-Davidson have crowned their inaugural Breakout Boss champion, with Glen Couper’s stunning custom announced as the winner. Kane Swan took out the publicly voted People’s Choice gong with his supercharged entry.
Held over six rounds, the competition saw a high calibre of custom Breakout entries, with the winner of each round progressing to the finals. The contest is an opportunity for builders and owners to show off their prized motorcycles.
The Breakout is Harley-Davidson’s best selling model in Australia and was the perfect choice to showcase the possibilities of customisation. So popular was the event, that more than 300 entries were received from across the country.
The panel of five judges, including Nigel Keough (GM Harley-Davidson ANZ), ambassadors Nathan Hindmarsh and David Genat, Mick Withers (Owner/Editor Heavy Duty magazine) and our very own bike editor Andrew Jenkin, were tasked with choosing the winner.

Judged on character, styling and X-factor, Glen Couper’s entry blew Harley Davidson’s judging panel away, noting that every single piece and part of the bike had been customised and beautifully executed.
For his efforts, Glen scores bragging rights as Breakout Boss, a unique Breakout Boss plaque, a Breakout Boss fuel tank. a $2,500 Harley-Davidson apparel voucher, a feature in Heavy Duty and promotion on the bike brand’s social media channels.
Joining him in the winner’s circle with his incredibly detailed turquoise Breakout was Kane Swan, with his bike the most popular in the eyes of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts.
