BMW have unveiled the 2026 R 1300 R roadster, with the new model set to arrive in Australian dealerships in the third quarter of this year. Four variants will make up the range, which kicks off from $22,200 plus on-roads.
The range topping R 1300 R Option 719 will be priced from $$30,890 plus on-roads. Costs aside, the new model is a visual and technical enhancement of the dynamic roadster, complete with a more aggressive and sportier design.
A high level of standard equipment enables customers to dial up the bike’s dynamic potential, while also remaining a capable companion for everyday use and touring. More dynamic than its predecessor, it features a redesigned ergonomic triangle.
The handlebars, footrests and seat are designed to position the rider noticeably further forward over the front wheel, leading to improved feedback from the front end, especially during sporty riding, and therefore even greater controllability.
At the same time, the seating position still allows for relaxed touring and cruising, even with a passenger. The development of the new R 1300 R again placed particular focus on achieving a sub-790mm seat height.

It’s powered by a 1,300cc engine delivering 107kW of power and 149Nm of torque, making it the most powerful series production BMW boxer engine to date. Its maximum engine speed is 9,000rpm.
In standard trim, the new R 1300 R has three riding modes, including Rain, Road and Eco, with the latter utilising ShiftCam technology to maximise range. Riding Modes Pro adds Dynamic and Dynamic Pro. Engine drag torque control is also standard.
Automated shift assistant adds an innovative technical solution to make motorcycling easier and more comfortable. True to the motto of “Simplify your Ride”, automated clutch operation and gear changes puts the riding experience even more front and centre.
The chassis of the new BMW R 1300 R has been completely redesigned too, with its centre piece a new sheet metal main frame made of steel, which offers higher levels of stiffness than the model it replaces. The rear frame is now made of die-cast aluminium.
Riding on 17-inch cast aluminium wheels with hollow spokes, the R 1300 R features a new 47mm upside-down telescopic fork and a rear end that sports dynamic adjustment for damping and spring rest.

The electronic dynamic suspension adjustment manages the front and rear depending on the selected riding mode and riding conditions. The R 1300 R with a twin disc brake featuring two radially mounted four-piston fixed callipers at the front.
At the rear is a single disc brake with two-piston floating calliper, paired with BMW Motorrad Integral ABS Pro. It can be fitted with a sports brake system as an option, which adds titanium-coloured brake callipers, and an increase in braking performance.
The 2025 R 1300 R comes as standard with a newly designed LED headlight in a dynamic octagonal shape, with the option of adaptive turning light. The new BMW R 1300 R can be equipped with riding assistant, which adds active cruise control and front collision warning.
There’s also the option to add seat heating, a windscreen and a variety of luggage choices. For touring, it can be fitted with a newly developed case system and case holders, or with preparation for the luggage system as part of the Comfort package.
The cases (26 and 29-litres) are electrified and can be unlocked using central locking. They also feature interior lighting, and the left-hand case includes a USB-C charging port. The tank bag is also new and, for the first time, completely strapless.

It attaches to the bike via a tank ring. The basic version of the BMW R 1300 R is offered in Snapper Rocks Blue, with the Exclusive in Racing Blue Metallic, the Performance variant in Light White and the premium Option 719 in Black Storm Metallic.
