BMW is forging ahead with its model offensive in the luxury car segment with the unveiling of an open-top sports car, which it says blends ultra-sporty driving properties of the 8 Series, with distinctive design elegance.
The new BMW 8 Series convertible offers a full-blooded open-top driving experience thanks to extraordinary chassis rigidity, coupled with dynamically stretched lines, a classic soft-top roof and four seats.
The power train and chassis technology means the new open top performer is as much at home on laid-back cruises down city boulevards as it is on twisty country roads or race tracks.
Two extremely powerful engines will be available at its European launch in March 2019. The 390kW hp V8 petrol engine in the BMW M850i xDrive convertible, and the 235kW 6-cylinder in-line diesel engine in the 840d xDrive variant.
Its progressive character is underscored by cutting-edge driver assistance systems, a latest-generation display and control system and up-to-the-minute connectivity technology including the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.
Local specifications, launch dates and pricing is not yet known. These details are expected to be confirmed in the coming months. If you’d like more information, it is available on the BMW website.
