THE order books are open for the highly anticipated 2022 BMW i4, the German car maker’s fully electric four-door saloon. Available through the BMW Shop, the first local deliveries of the new model will be in in Q1 next year.
Those who reserve their i4 and place a $500 deposit will have the opportunity to specify their vehicle later this year, in coordination with their preferred BMW dealer, when more detail is released about the model line-up, specification and equipment offerings.
The i4 represents a significant element in BMW’s new generation electric vehicle product strategy, following the launch of the iX3, iX xDrive40 and xDrive50 this year. It combines progressive styling and signature BMW dynamics, with luxury and comfort.
The new model also features sustainable performance characteristics, with the line-up to also feature an M Performance model, and power output of up to 390kW, which will propel the i4 from zero to 100km/h in just four seconds.
The i4 will offer a driving range of up to 590km in the WLTP cycle, and will be manufactured using the latest in BMW sustainable technologies, a key focus which aligns with BMW Group’s strategic future direction.
The electricity used to produce the vehicle in Munich – as well as the iX in Dingolfing – is generated via hydroelectric plants in Bavaria. This is a key aspect of BMW Group’s plan to reduce its emissions by 80 per cent by 2030.
The development of smart vehicle architectures and a highly flexible production network will enable BMW Group to have around 12 fully electric models on the roads worldwide by 2023.
Deliveries of fully electric BMW Group models are set to grow by more than 50 per cent annually on average by 2025. Further information on the new i4 is available from your local BMW dealer.
