Bianchi loses fight for life

MARUSSIA Formula 1 driver Jules Bianchi has lost his fight for life, passing away overnight from injuries sustained at last year’s Japanese Grand Prix.

In an official statement, Bianchi’s parents Philippe and Christine, his brother Tom and sister Melanie announced the passing of the much loved racer, at the hospitalier universitaire in Nice, France, where he had been admitted following the accident at the Suzuka racing circuit on 5 October 2014.

“Jules fought until the end, as he has always done, but yesterday, his battle ended”, his mother said. “We feel a pain immense and indescribable.”

The family thanked medical staff and doctors at the hospital, as well as members of the Marussia F1 team, his friends, and supporters for their love and support during this difficult time.

“W ask you to respect our privacy during these very difficult hours, during which time we are trying to cope with the loss of Jules.”
