Bentley launches airline seating for Bentayga Extended Wheelbase

Bentley has launched the most wellbeing focused car seat in the world, with the airline seat specification to be added to the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase (EWB). It includes the world’s first auto climate sensing and advanced postural adjustment systems.

The system senses temperature and humidity with an accuracy of 0.1 degrees Celsius every 25 milliseconds, activating seven defined comfort levels for temperature, from typical optimum to one designed to cool a fever.

Once a rear seat passenger selects their desired temperature, the seat senses the passenger’s actual temperature and surface humidity, before determining whether to apply heat, ventilation or both simultaneously.

The auto climate system is also 40 per cent more efficient than manual control. Meanwhile, the postural adjust system applies 177 individual pressure changes across six fully independent pressure zones, with 22 ways of adjustment of the rear seat.

Developed in collaboration with a chiropractor, the system is designed to improve comfort and minimise fatigue throughout a journey. By subtly changing the shape of surfaces of the seat over time, no one area of the body endures pressure fatigue for an extended period.

There’s even an additional electric foot rest. A combination of 12 electric motors and three intelligent pneumatic valve ECU units controlled by master ECU for seat motion and wellbeing, controls the package.

With the new variant available to order, there’s already been an initial customer uptake of 50 per cent for the airline seat specification, with the Bentayga EWB demonstrating a new benchmark in wellbeing features.
