THE latest incarnation of the car dubbed the rugged icon has arrived in Australia, with the new Audi A6 Allroad Quattro offering sophisticated design credentials, exceptional comfort and a versatile flair for the great outdoors.
The 2020 Audi A6 Allroad Quattro 45 TDI offers all of the sleek attributes of the A6 Avant, and couples them with sharp new features that provide an athletic off-road presence, including a wide single-frame grille, matrix LED headlights and LED rear lighting.
Its 20-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels are just part of a package that includes an electric tailgate with gesture control, illuminated door sill trims (with aluminium inlays) and door LEDs with ‘allroad’ projection.
The highly versatile model has been developed with optimal handling and traction for the rough stuff, delivered via the Quattro all-wheel drive system, inspiring confidence in challenging weather conditions.
Adaptive air suspension that adjusts the height of the vehicle for alternating ground clearance levels, dependent on the road speed and choice of driving mode (applied within the Audi drive select function), make getting off road a breeze.
Ample pulling power is assured too, with up to 2.5-tonne towing capacity, further improved by its ground clearance height of up to 184mm. Performance comes from the 3.0-litre 6-cylinder TDI (turbo diesel) engine.
Some 183kW of power and 600Nm of torque are on tap, with a 0-100km/h sprint stopping the clock at just 6.5 seconds. And in truly impressive efficiency numbers, fuel economy sits at 6.6-litres/100km.
Power is delivered to the road via a smooth-shifting, 8-speed tiptronic transmission.
On the inside, the A6 Allroad offers a luxurious and elegant fit-out that includes the newest version of Audi’s MMI Navigation system, with dual touchscreens (10.1-inch and 8.6-inch). There’s alos a high-resolution (12.3-inch) Audi virtual cockpit.
Additionally, the off-road friendly A6 Allroad features Audi Connect Plus technology, wireless phone charging, four USB ports, Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. A 3-spoke leather multi-function steering wheel with shift paddles is also standard.
Heated Valcona leather sport seats with contrasting stitching and Allroad embossing feature up front, along with stainless steel pedals and footrest, a frame-less auto-dimming interior mirror, and Audi’s extended upholstery package.
Safety wise, the Audi off-roader raises the bar in safety and driver assistance technology, with a myriad of features, including adaptive cruise assist, traffic assist, a 360-degree camera with kerb view function, and side assist and rear rear cross traffic assist.
Collision avoidance assist and turn assist, intersection assist, an exit warning, active bonnet, head-up display, and even loose wheel detection, are all standard.
In addition, a Premium Plus package is available to enhance your 2020 Audi A6 Allroad and includes tinted windows, HD matrix LED headlights, electric steering column adjustment, and a panoramic glass sunroof.
It also adds a Bang and Olufsen 3D sound system, 4-zone climate control (instead of 3-zone), an LED colour interior lighting package and a choice of two 21-inch alloy wheel options.
The new Audi A6 Allroad Quattro starts at $109,500 plus on-roads. It’s arrival in Australia, along with the A6 40 TFSI sedan, completes the A6 range locally. The sedan features a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 140kW/320Nm via the front wheels.
The 2020 Audi A6 40 TFSI sedan is offered with 19-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, heated front seats, MMI navigation with MMI touch response, Audi virtual cockpit, Connect Plus, and wireless phone charging.
