Audi lands an onslaught of RS goodness in Australia

AUDI has launched and landed an onslaught of all new RS goodness, with the R8 Coupé and Spyder, the TT RS, RS 6 Avant and the RS 7 Sportback all now available in Australia and raring to hit the open road.

The new Audi R8 Coupé, priced from $295,000 plus on roads, and the R8 Spyder, priced from $395,000 plus on roads, deliver phenomenal supercar performance, state-of-the-art technology and bold styling that sets them apart on the road.

The new R8 models are available in two models, the V10 RWD and the V10 performance quattro. All are powered by the celebrated 5.2-litre FSI V10, delivering 397kW/540Nm in the R8 V10 RWD, and an astonishing 449kW/560Nm in the V10 performance quattro.

Race-bred technologies like dry-sumped lubrication, a high 12.7:1 compression ratio, dual injection and lightweight materials throughout contribute to the engine’s incredible character. Cylinder-on-demand technology helps maintain good fuel consumption.

The new Audi R8 Coupé V10 performance quattro is one of the fastest Audi sports cars ever built, utilising its quattro all-wheel-drive grip to catapult to 100km/h from rest in just 3.2 seconds (3.3 for the R8 Spyder), before a top speed of 330km/h.

The R8 Coupé V10 RWD will sprint to 100km/h from rest in 3.7 seconds (3.8 for the R8 V10 Spyder). The latest incarnation of the sports performance icon is also joined in Australia, by the refreshed Audi TT RS Coupé.

Boasting scintillating performance, aggressive design and tenacious handing, the highlight of the new Audi TT RS Coupé is the iconic Audi 2.5-litre turbocharged five cylinder engine that develops 294kW and 480Nm.

It includes technology such as a lightweight aluminium crankcase, dual injection, the Audi valve lift system (AVS) and a high-pressure 1.35 bar (19.6psi) turbocharger. As a result, the TT RS Coupé demolishes the 100 km/h sprint in a phenomenal 3.7 seconds.

The new TT RS Coupé makes no effort to conceal its high-performance capabilities, showing off an aggressive stance from any angle. It also comes standard with a lightweight, seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission, delivering lightning-fast shifts.

The tuning of the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system is fully integrated into the Audi drive select dynamic handling system, where the torque delivery is distributed quickly and precisely via an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch.

As with the rest of the TT range, the TT RS comes standard with the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit, including special RS functions like a larger tachometer, coloured shift lights, as well as g-force and lap timing measurements.

The Audi TT RS Coupé features an impressive array of safety and driver assistance systems as well, including six airbags, active lane and side assist, parking sensors with rear view camera and tyre pressure monitor.

The new Audi TT RS Coupé is priced from $134,900 plus on roads. Joining it in showrooms is the legendary RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback, deemed the fastest Audi RS models ever built.

The RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback combine supercar performance with a striking new design and progressive technology that sets a new benchmark for contemporary sports cars, delivering truly mind-blowing performance along the way.

The beating heart of these thoroughbreds is the 4.0-litre TFSI V8 engine. Two twin-scroll turbochargers sit within the 90-degree vee, each feeding one bank of cylinders with up to 1.4 bar of boost pressure.

All-up, the 4.0-litre TFSI engine develops a monumental 441kW of power and an earth-turning 800Nm of torque. Performance is astonishing, with both models sprinting to 100 km/h from rest in just 3.6 seconds, and to 200 km/h in just 12 seconds.

As impressive as this crushing performance is, progressive efficiency technologies are integral to the all-new RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback. Its 48-volt mild-hybrid electrical system can recover up to 12 kW of power while coasting or under light throttle.

To harness the engine’s incredible power, they are both equipped with a fast shifting eight speed tiptronic transmission, directing power to the road via the legendary Audi quattro permanent all-wheel drive.

For the first time, the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback also benefit from dynamic all-wheel steering, enhancing both agility and stability (depending on the driving situation).

The rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels at low speeds, reducing the turning circle by up to one metre, turning the same direction as the front wheels at speed, which provides dynamic handling with unshakable stability.

All of these dynamic systems, the Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC) and the standard RS sports exhaust, are integrated through the Audi Drive Select system. The RS 6 and RS 7 debut two new RS 1 and RS 2 modes within Audi Drive Select as well.

Infotainment and connectivity are real strengths of the RS 6 and RS 7, with highlights including MMI navigation plus with MMI touch response (with dual touchscreens), Audi connect plus, Audi virtual cockpit, wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless phone charging.

A selection of eight exterior colours are available on the Audi RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback, also unlocking a new crystal effect paint in Sebring black, as well as a striking Matte effect paint finish via Audi exclusive.

The RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback offer several equipment option packages with further interior customisation available, including a sensory package, the carbon and black styling package and the RS Dynamic package plus.

The Audi RS 6 Avant is priced from $216,000 plus on roads, while the RS 7 Sportback takes to the tarmac at $224,000, again plus on roads.

The flotilla of performance models follows the recent arrival of the RS 4 Avant, and its dynamically sporty siblings, the RS 5 Coupé and RS 5 Sportback, along with the RS Q3 and new RS Q3 Sportback.
