Argon Scorcher Jacket (product review)

OUR latest bit of kit from the folks at Argon is the Scorcher jacket. It’s a sports styled leather unit that is not only stylish on the bike, but also performs well, is abrasion resistant, and is fitted with CE Level 2 armour.

Constructed from genuine cow leather, armour has been placed in the shoulders and elbows. The Scorcher features a back protector, and in the case of our test jacket, was finished in black, with white reflective piping for added safety.

It’s available in a range of colours, including Grey Lime, Stealth, Black/Grey and Black/White, in perforated and non perforated.

Our test jacket was of the latter variety. Not only does it still breathe extremely well, it looks mickey mouse, in a good way.

We made use of the removable lining inside the jacket for most of our test period too (we tested in the depths of winter). It works well, is easy to attach via a zipper, and only takes a moment to take out and put back in.

There is also a handy dry pouch on the inside of the jacket for keeping valuables and phones nice and dry, as well as another decent-sized internal pocket. In addition, there’s a dedicated phone pouch in the liner.

Externally, there are also two good sized pockets as well is. Neoprene collar and cuffs are a nice touch for added comfort and a better fit, while all zippers are YKK and work seamlessly.

As far as fit goes, for this rider it was pretty much perfect. The elbow and shoulder pads actually fit where they are supposed to, which is very important on a fitted jacket. If we had one wish though, we would probably enjoy about half an inch extra in overall length.

That could just be because this reviewer is partial to a meat pie. Arm length is spot on too. With a range of sizes available from small to 3XL, there is a size and variant of the Scorcher jacket that should suit most riders.

Priced from $469.95 and available from most good motorcycle apparel stores, we highly recommend checking out this jacket and the rest of the Argon range if you need some new bike gear.

As always, we suggest trying it on before buying, and making sure that this jacket suits your intended riding purpose. Like all the products we have tested from Argon (including the Mission gloves and Rift boots), we have been super impressed with this Aussie brand.

Our test product was provided by Argon Moto. Exhaust Notes Australia has not been paid to review this product.

Pros – quality product; looks good; feels great.

Cons – could be a tad longer.
