Nissan Australia has confirmed initial specifications for the upcoming Y63 Patrol, ahead of the order books opening in late August 2026 and first customer deliveries in Q1 2027. Headlining the list of goodies is the most powerful engine ever fitted to the model.
That comes in the form of a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 delivering an immense 317kW and 700Nm, marking six per cent more power (+19kW) and 25 per cent more torque (+140Nm) than its V8 predecessor.
The new engine draws upon Nissan’s expertise from the GT-R program. Featuring a scavenger oil pump to maintain consistent engine lubrication during extreme off-roading, including steep inclines and off-camber terrain, the boosted V6 comes with a new nine-speed automatic.
It is of course, four-wheel drive. But with more power also comes more luxury, rivalling some serious luxury SUV competitors. A key part of that is adaptive air suspension, a first-time offering for the Patrol.
Paired with Nissan’s new intelligent dynamic damping technology, which continuously adjusts to changing road and terrain conditions, it enables the vehicle to raise or lower its ride height to suit the driving environment.
Slot the Y63 into Off-Road mode, and the adaptive air suspension will increase ride height to improve approach, breakover, and departure angles. On the highway, it will automatically lower at speeds over 90km/h for improved fuel economy.
Likewise, it will automatically raise under 70km/h for handling pothole-laden roads and speed bumps. It will also lower when shifted to Park for easy entry/exit and cargo loading. The luxuries don’t end there.
Headlining its thoroughly modern cabin are ‘zero gravity’ massage seats up front, with the same setup (sans massage function) in the second row. This ensures optimal posture and support enhanced comfort during long journeys.
There’s also a biometric cooling system to be offered on select grades – a segment first which intelligently monitors passengers’ temperatures upon entry and automatically adjusts climate control settings accordingly.
Up front, you’ll find a new ‘Monolith’ display panel with twin 14.3-inch displays for the driver and central infotainment system. There’s also a head-up display on select grades for the first time, along with a 12-speaker, 600-watt Klipsch audio system.
