Volvo XC60 gains sharper looks and smarter tech for 2025

Volvo has announced updated pricing and specifications for the significantly refreshed, and already on-sale 2025 XC60 range. Pricing for the facelifted model starts at $74,990 before on-road costs for the petrol Plus B5 Bright.

It tops out at $101,990 for the Ultra T8 Plug-in Hybrid Dark, with the Ultra B5 Dark and Plus T8 Dark variants positioned in between in the four-pronged range. Visually, the XC60 has been treated to a more contemporary look too.

That comes thanks to a new front air intake reflecting the updated look of the larger XC90, along with new wheel options and darker taillights. Three new exterior colours – Forest Lake, Aurora Silver, and Mulberry Red – are also on offer.

Inside, the most notable update is the addition of Volvo’s latest UX system, already seen in the EX90. It’s hosted on an enlarged 11.2-inch display and features a more crisp and responsive display thanks to the Snapdragon Cockpit platform.

It’s more than twice as fast as Volvo’s old infotainment system and features in-built Google connectivity, and will continue to improve even further thanks to future over-the-air updates.

In addition to the fitment of this system to 2025 Volvo XC60 models, the company has confirmed around 2.5 million global customers will receive the new UX system in their cars built as early as 2020 via an over-the-air-update happening later this year.

A mix of new interior decors, inlays, and new premium materials such as Quilted Nordico offer a more premium and contemporary experience inside the XC60. There’s also new cupholders and an improved wireless phone charger to enhance its day-to-day practicality.

Depending on the model grade, the XC60 also carries an exhaustive list of standard features including power-adjustable front seats with memory function, integrated child booster cushions in the rear seat, and a crystal gear lever selector.

You’ll also find a head-up display, 360-degree camera, and ‘BLIS’ (Blind Spot Information System). Optional extras include air suspension for an even more luxurious ride, along with Harman Kardon or Bowers and Wilkins audio systems.

Two powertrains feature in the 2025 XC60 range. ‘B5’ variants use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine coupled with a mild hybrid system, delivering 183kW and 350Nm.

Meanwhile, ‘T8’ variants pair a 233kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with a 107kW/309Nm electric motor and plug-in hybrid system that drives the rear axle. Both powertrain options feature an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The XC60 is Volvo Cars’ best-selling model globally, with more than 1.5 million sales, and is historically its third-best seller in Australia (according to VFACTS data from 2024), behind the EX30 (2129 units) and XC40 (3142 units).

The Plus T8 Plug-in Hybrid Dark is $92,990, with the Ultra T8 Plug-in Hybrid Dark at $101,990. You can find out more from your local Volvo dealer.
